The 4th of July

The kids let us sleep in late this morning.  I didn’t get out of bed until about 10am, and Emily followed shortly there after.  I made a big brunch for us, and then Em and I laid around for a bit trying to decide how best to spend the holiday.  Thoughts of going down a river in a couple rented canoes went to the wayside as we considered that the recent rains had the water levels up a couple feet.  That would make for some pretty unsafe travel for the kids.

So, I loaded up the kids and went to a couple stores to see if we could find some inexpensive fun for the day.  We came home with a $16 pool.  It turned out to be a big hit.  Once we managed to keep enough water in the pool without people spilling it out, the kids played all day.

Later, we went over to our friends, the Kelly’s for some time around the bon-fire, and more time in a much bigger pool.

The evening wrapped up with some beautiful fireworks in Hesperia, and the sound of kids snoring in the back of the van.
